Add Movement with a Water Feature |
Whether it is a gently flowing stream or a gushing waterfall, the sight and sound of flowing water is a pleasing example of the unceasing movement of nature. Adding a water feature to your landscape brings a sense of natural tranquility to your backyard while providing a centerpiece for the rest of your landscaping. |
While extravagant fountains and water sculptures exist, there are a wide range of possibilities for water features that can fit any space and any budget. Once you decide the location for your new addition, you will need to determine the overall feel that you want for the area. Is the existing landscaping well-organized with a highly coordinated plant selection? Is the look more natural with a more random arrangement of plants? For a precise arrangement, a symmetrical water sculpture may be a good fit. A piece of art that incorporates water will complement the deliberate layout of the area itself. On the other hand, a rock water feature enhances the wild look of landscaping that already carries a natural feel. |
Once you begin to explore the variety of water features that are available, you will find that many include both natural and artistic aspects. You will also find that there are many options in terms of size, shape, and overall design. Some water features do not even require collecting pools, but instead have water 'disappear' into rocks or gravel, to be recirculated by a hidden pump. Flowing water draws peoples' eyes and ears like nothing else. It adds action to a gathering space or tranquility to a secluded garden. However you decide to use them, water features make a great addition to any property. |

| | Pruning & Shearing Pruning and shearing is important to the health and appearance of your trees and shrubs. Aesthetically, pruning helps to balance the growth for a more even appearance. Cutting out the dead limbs is important not only for looks, but dead limbs are more susceptible to insect infestation and disease. Also, overgrown trees and shrubs can block your view, so keeping them trimmed will enhance your view of your surroundings. Pruning promotes new growth, and also encourages blooms or fruit, creating a fuller plant. It makes roots stronger so the plant can hold up better in the wind. And it is important to remove dead or hazardous branches that could fall during a storm and damage your home or fall on power lines. McCaskey Landscape & Design has a team of professionals that are trained in proper pruning and shearing techniques, ensuring that your trees and shrubs are healthy and beautiful. | | |
