In addition to proper watering, mowing, and feeding – the process of aeration is one of the most beneficial treatments that you can give your lawn. In the fall months, your turf switches its focus from top growth to root growth. The blades may not be shooting up quickly as in the spring and summer, but there is still plenty going on underground. In an effort to expand and collect food for the coming winter, grass roots benefit from some room to grow. |

The process of aeration uses a special machine to remove thousands of small plugs of soil from your lawn, creating holes in your lawn. With this new space to work with, your turf's roots are able to expand and further establish themselves. Aeration also loosens and opens up the soil, allowing water and nutrients better access to your lawn's roots. Finally, if you overseed this time of year, aeration helps maximize soil to seed contact. Just because your lawn seems to slow down in the fall, efforts taken around this time of year make a lasting positive impact. Fall aeration strengthens your turf's roots making it hearty and healthy both next year and for years to come. |

| | Irrigation Systems Many property owners find themselves using excessive amounts of water to maintain a lush, green landscape; this can become very time consuming and costly. Overwatering the lawn can lead to moss growth in shady areas, powdery mildew, and root rot, which causes the lawn to turn yellow and brown. Irrigation systems are an efficient and cost-effective way to maintain a beautiful, healthy landscape. Irrigation systems operate on timers, allowing the system to do the work for you, while reducing the amount of water used to hydrate the lawn. It is recommended to set the timers between 3-6am; this will allow the soil time to absorb the water before the sun comes up. A healthy lawn will have even color and blade thickness. A lawn that is under-watered will appear wilted and blades will be crisp to the touch. McCaskey Landscape & Design is experienced in installing and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure a fresh, green lawn all summer long. | | |
